Listen to Lucia Scazzocchio and Jodie Taylor's Recordings of Hastings Refugee Buddy Conversations, followed by audio works from Small Audio.
This community cafe space invites you to reflect on the concept of home and what it means to you, viewed through the lens of your front door. The exhibition showcases artwork curated from an ongoing audio project called Small Audio Art, where participants are invited, each month, to create a small artwork inspired by an object in their home: their front door, their kitchen table, a sofa. These everyday objects become portals for exploring more complex and expansive themes of belonging, safety, movement, comfort, and the absence of these.
We invite you to take a seat at our drawing table, where we will be creating visual and written responses to questions that delve into ideas of home and belonging. The exhibition also features a recording space where you can share your reflections on these themes. Your responses will be woven together at the end of the festival and published online, serving as a memento of these ongoing discussions around inclusion, migration, stability, and home.
