Stellaria Media works with communities to produce audio about the things that matter to them. They are based in South Devon and within two community radio stations, Soundart Radio (Totnes) and Skylark (Dartmoor).
Their background as artists means they are always exploring, listening, responding and creating together with communities. They frequently work with researchers from Universities to disseminate their knowledge through participatory, creative audio production.
Lucinda Guy is a composer, singer, radio artist and researcher working in grassroots contexts. Her research looks at automation in radio broadcasting and how it can be redesigned to address voice poverty and media polarisation, by learning from radio art, cybernetics and experimental music. This includes the operation and design of Skylark, a licensed, automated radio station for Dartmoor National Park that plays an algorithmically generated, continuous sound piece, made up of recordings and live streams from within its broadcast range. She has also produced radio dramas and experimental works for national broadcasters in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
Alice Armstrong is a radio producer whose work is informed by their training in Anthropology (UCL) and Contemporary Dance and Improvisation (Bewegungs Art, Freiburg). Alice’s audio documentaries have been broadcast on Radia, BBC World Service and Soundproof.
