FRIDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER
Phil Smith presents Life Cycles + Muscle Memory with Tullis Rennie
Tullis Rennie presents Muscle Memory, an invitation to join him in the act of listening to listening.
Radio Limbo
Radio Limbo is the flagship show of Bristol’s label Limbo Tapes, offering listeners a monthly trip through visionary music and audio curios, woven togther with a dub mentality. At times dreamy, others nightmarish, the show navigates the obscure, the beautiful, and the surreal with humour and sharp edits, often re-purposing existing radio material.
XMTR Listening Lounge
Selected. Hearing at Dark Circles - Coffee and Music Bar.
This listening lounge features a curated selection of audio works from xmtr.fm and many of the artists featured during the festival.
Workshop: Invisible Threads: The Art of Audio Puppetry - Nina Garthwaite (In The Dark)
Nina Garthwaite brings together audio exercises, reflections and experiments to explore the way we humans tell stories with - and about - sound.
A Knitsonik Installation by Felicity (Felix) Ford
For XMTR Felix will share the joy of listening to knitting patterns with her trusty music box.
Felix transposes knitting charts onto punch-cards that can then be played through a music box. This allows us to hear knitwear motifs through patterns of pitch and rhythm. An intimate installation with a view of the sea.
Shortwave Collective: Radio Making Workshop
Shortwave Collective invite you to make a very simple radio. Working with a basic set of materials: wire, clips, tent pegs, and chosen or found objects, you’ll become co-researchers and experimenters, attaching our radios to metal structures as makeshift antennas and searching for signals.
Miyuki Jokiranta - Ecotone
In a beach hut, neither at sea nor firmly on land, layers of a place - historical, botanical, lived, electromagnetic - unfurl in this micro-broadcast and performance.
Like the radio waves that carry it, Ecotone is an ephemeral encounter with a transitional space, explored through the act of noticing. BYO Radio
Field Recordings with Eleanor McDowall
From cracking ice to creaking trees, mountain goats to broken clocks... drift in and out of the sound of the last four years, as a slow weave of Field Recordings from 2020 - 2024 unravels.
Sit in a beach hut with a view of the sea as you listen to field recordings from around the world.
Channeling with Dan Am
Channeling invites you to stare out into your horizon and tune in further into this oscillating and fluctuating expanse.
A chance to connect and go somatically deeper whenever you find the opportunity to perch on the many seats, posts and outcrops that are generously dotted along promenade. Your guided medication to pause and come back to throughout the festival. Whenever you want to step into and separate your own signal from noise and dive in deeper.
