Audio Flux is an open collaboration, fueled by short audio works that respond to a set of rules established with a different creative partner each time.
The inaugural circuit is partnered with writer and artist Wendy MacNaughton (New York Times, How to Say Goodbye, Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat).
Six producers were invited to create three-minute “Fluxworks,” that:
Include some manifestation of the theme: letting go
Include previously unshared personal archival tape
Take inspiration from one of three illustrations by Wendy (keys, gas station, person reading)
Megan Tan merges two stories - one person is looking for the keys to life and another has the keys to life.

Albert Potrony’s website describes him as “an artist with a participatory practice examining ideas of identity, community and language. Potrony is interested in generating social spaces through his projects, and participation from diverse groups and individuals is a key element of his work.” In this conversation with Hannah Kemp-Welsh he introduces his participatory arts practice, describing a recent project with young fathers in Gateshead and former members of an anti-sexist men’s group. Albert and Hannah talk about collaborative practice in detail, and the role of listening within this.

People on the frontline of the childcare crisis share their stories and investigate the historical roots of the problems they face. As they look into the past, will they find solutions to the problems of today? Eva, a single mum, artist and designer talks about stay and plays.
Stay and Plays are often volunteer-run groups, found in church halls. They are places people looking after very young babies and children can go, to play with others, have a cup of tea and a chat, and maybe even make friends. An experienced play facilitator herself, Eva first discovered the value of stay and plays when she was a new parent. They were, she says, life saving and gave her a community that has lasted. If they are so vital, why then does no one talk about them?

Vivien Schütz is a German radio maker living in Brooklyn, New York. She typically produces radio documentaries and fictional stories for German public radio, but this was her first time experimenting with something non-narrated piece using only field recordings.
The piece was inspired by the prompt "What does your neighborhood sound like to you?". It’s called “Bedstuy Beats”. Bedstuy is short for Bedford-Stuyvesant, a neighborhood in Brooklyn, where Vivien has been living for the last two years. A lot of the recordings were spontaneous — she just grabbed her phone when something interesting was happening around her.

Julie Censullo is an audio producer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Her piece, "Life Begins in the Stillness", was produced as part of the Spring 2023 In the Dark short feature course, and was featured on BBC Radio 4’s Short Cuts. It’s Julie’s first non-narrated and heavily sound designed piece. It was recorded in the Quaking Bog in Theodore Wirth Regional Park in Minneapolis. The interviewee is a man named Gabriel Rodreick He is a musician and artist who goes by “Freaque”, and he created the bog spirits heard in the piece.
